Hello, Livejournal!
Oct. 4th, 2008 12:09 amLo, I am indeed alive. It's been a while since I posted here, and since then, I've moved, had serious car trouble and finally gotten Internet at my place. Thankfully, the car trouble waited until after I got well situated, but there is little more alarming than being stranded in the middle of a hill on a busy street, unable to go any direction other than backwards. Verdict on exactly what is wrong with the car and what will and will not be covered by warranty must waiting until Monday. Till then, I'll just have to sweat.
My apartment is lovely, and nearly put together. I have many windows, which look out on a very small space, and then onto a fence. The area between is covered in green stuff and has many sparrow, bunny and squirrel visitors. Also one small stray cat and a little round black bird I can't ID. This makes me very happy. However, there's still plenty of cosmetic mess, so photos must wait until that's gone. Fall has arrived with great suddenness, bringing forty degree nights and the dreadful Knocking of the Radiators. It sounds as though gnomes with pickaxes are coming through my floor.
I've made a lot of bread (including spider bread, which I will show photos of later), and tonight I made about 2 quarts of soy milk. Soy milk is remarkably easy to make. Eventually, there will be tofu, but I need to get something to curdle it properly.

Headed to farmer's market early this morning with
samadi. It is very spiffy, and I am now the proud owner of many beets, some onions, several lovely colored peppers, tomatoes, and a small basket of round eggplant. Also dropped by Downtown Books, which had a big unified copy of the Gormenghast trilogy. Now all I need is a chisel to read it with.
Internet has been only semi-reliable, but I hope it'll function properly for the foreseeable future.
