Yellow onion skins in vinegar (with possible iron contamination - the enamel is chipping off my dyepot) turn silk the precise shade I think of as Steampunk Brown. I must consider this for the future.

Turmeric is also the only thing I have that dyes linen. My underskirt is now a fabulous shade of dandelion. I am pleased.

Pavilion has been hemmed and the sides taken in. It will probably have to go to the next event as the (probably) tremendously unperiod spoked wheel type, however, since I have not yet figured out how to make the leather grommets shown here (http://www.greydragon.org/pavilions/basel.html) to attach rope hooks.

Much to be done! Ack!

I keep trying to get into the SCA, but there's way too much emphasis on historical accuracy for me.

I find that truly boggling, since the SCA is afloat in Renn Faire stuff, jingly belly dancers, and polyester T-Tunics.

Obviously, I have been mis-informed then. I may have to check them out again.

You might have some people who are unusually interested in history in your area - this is a possibility. But the SCA overall has no requirements for attending beyond making an attempt at pre-17th century costume. No behavioral requirements, no knowledge requirements, etc. Elves and fairies are generally frowned upon, but I've seen people do it, nonetheless - usually at big events where there are a lot of non-members attending.

While I've heard the horror stories about people being dressed down for inaccurate things by complete strangers, I've never met anyone to whom it has happened. I happen to like history, but I'm not going to be mean to other people, for instance. Though it's also good to remember that many SCAdians, like fandom, are very enthusiastic about their Thing and will probably talk about it at length if you don't stop them. :)

Overall, in my experience, which is limited to the midwest, I'll admit, the SCA is slightly more interested in accuracy than the boffer people.

You know I looked at that pavillion when I made my spoke and hub design, I just couldn't figure it out, and still can't figure out- how you do it without a monster rope foot print.

You will have to enlighten me, because I don't get it....
