So! Today I got my drafting/drawing table. This store: http://www.draftingtables.com/drafting-tables/adjustable-height-tables/alvinprofessionalxbdrawingtablewithspacesaverbase36x24inches.cfm has a small folding model for very little, as far as these things go.

Despite my initial misgivings about buying discounted things from a store with an SEO name, it arrived quickly and in good condition. However, the folks designing this and writing the instructions cannot be engineers. This was clearly made to be put together by artists. Nothing designed to be assembled by someone who knows what they're doing could be this confusing.

Instructions are step by step, but include two only vaguely helpful diagrams and no list of tools. The process is that you use abig cardboard template, punch holes in it, transfer dots to the tabletop (which only vaguely matches the template), then screw the legs and brackets directly to the table on the dots. These are not very precise dots, and the top was designed so you can screw directly into it without drilling. It took me many minutes to figure this out. The result is something that works well enough, and has wobble tolerances all over the place. Adjusting it is not as easy as I'd like it to be, since you have to flip the top up and turn a lot of little knobs. However, here's hoping that it reduces hunching while I draw. And also, dude, $250.00 drawing board for $90!
